FirstServe is an exciting gap-year programme for 18-25 year olds, jointly sponsored by GLO, Counties and Echoes International. It aims to invest in young people through encouraging discipleship and providing an overseas missions experience. The programme includes: a 3-week period of study at Tilsley College, a 4 – 6 week UK church placement, and 3 – 6 months overseas (or a longer UK placement with a shorter overseas trip). FirstServe participants have been involved in sports ministry, work with children and youth, and medical, education, and Emmaus work, in a range of urban and rural settings. One participant said, “It’s the best thing I’ve ever done!” FirstServe provides a meaningful way of spending a gap-period as part of an individual’s growth in life, career, and service for God
